Made from what already exists
Hey, Bas here.
I grew up around textiles and have spent the past 12 years building Sheltersuit, using clothing to protect people living on the streets.
During those years, I also saw another side of the clothing industry. Warehouses full of perfectly good fabrics that had already been made, but were no longer going to be used. Material just sitting there, often treated as waste.
That never made sense to me.
That’s why I started One of XX. To give that material another purpose.
One of XX is built entirely from deadstock fabrics sourced from factories in Portugal, the same places that produce for some of the biggest names in luxury fashion.
We take the unused rolls we find and turn them into clothing. The fabric decides what we make and how many. Sometimes there is enough for 17 pieces, sometimes 140.
Every piece is individually numbered.
We don’t make new fabric. We start with what already exists.
What we do
Our approach
deadstock is structural
Every year, the fashion industry produces more fabric than it uses. Much of it is stored indefinitely or destroyed. We step in before that happens.
WE WORK WITH WHAT ALREADY EXISTS
Producing new fabric uses ~2.500 liters of water per t-shirt. Using deadstock, means saving resources, reducing waste and giving exceptional materials a second life.
Numbered pieces, made only once
We find the fabric, measure it, and calculate how many garments can be made. This number becomes the edition, which we hand-stamp onto every piece.

We do not commission new fabric production.

Core shapes evolve through repetition.
Quantity, color and finish are defined by what exists.
Each garment is individually hand-numbered.

Each release is part of a batch.
